Are you looking to make a difference from day one?

Are you a practitioner (RGN/RMN or Paramedic) who wants to explore something new and challenging, if the answer is yes then prison healthcare could be for you!
PPG within HMP Bullingdon has a vacancy for Inpatients Lead. HMP Bullingdon is a Cat B remand prison for adult males aged 21 and over, near Bicester in Oxfordshire.
You don’t need experience of working in the health and justice sector to apply for these roles you just need to demonstrate, leadership, empathy, compassion and have a desire to want to make a difference.
Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work. If you are a qualified nurse, or soon to qualify, and want a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this is it!

As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. We are the market leader, providing care to over 30,000 patients in over 40 prisons across the country.

Our core values are; everyone makes a difference, patients are at the heart of everything we do and together we make things better. If you share these values and have transferable skills we want to meet you!

About the role

You will provide healthcare to the men housed within HMP Bullingdon. This will include some emergency care such as suturing, providing emergency response to undertaking dressings and performing a primary care function. There is a focus on health promotion and keeping the men within the prison, safe and well by providing effective safe care. You will lead a team of healthcare practitioners some in specialist roles to deliver an effective safe medical service within the prison.

You will contribute to our healthcare strategy and vision to;

Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.

Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference, as defined throughout our bespoke Health in Justice Competency framework.

Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders and providing a service that people can trust, feel safe within, and feel proud of.

Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.

Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job. Encourage a shared learning approach to teaching.

About you

As a Registered Nurse (Adult / Mental Health / Paramedic) with valid NMC registration, you’ll be an integral part of the senior team at HMP Bullingdon, bringing your well-developed clinical skills, passion for care and leadership skills to the role. With plenty of primary care and/or substance misuse experience, you will be leading from the front, keeping your skills sharp by directing and developing knowledge within the team to continually improve the care for patients at HMP Bullingdon.
