Practice Plus Group is the Health in Justice market leader. We have experienced significant growth over the past few years and now deliver healthcare services in over 45 prisons across England.

We are now seeking to recruit an experienced leader for the Midlands region within our Health in Justice service line. This role is a fantastic opportunity to lead a high performing and well established team and further build on our success to date.

As Deputy Regional Manager you will be responsible for five of our West Midlands prison sites. You will report directly to the Regional Manager and be supported by Heads of Healthcare within each of the services, who will report to you, but largely run their own businesses. This role carries line management and budgetary responsibility for each of the contracts detailed above, and is responsible for effective clinical and managerial communication, to and from the central support functions and within the centres.

About the job...

There are two key aspects to this role. Firstly, ensure that each establishment and their teams are supported and guided to provide innovative, energetic, patient focused care which delivers the committed margin. Secondly, understand the aspirations of the local health economy and find positive solutions for the challenges being faced so that the units become an integral and increasing part of the local health system.

A good grasp of the sector dynamics at both a National and Regional level is required along with an understanding of the strategic direction for healthcare delivery including the legislative framework within which it operates. An ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments is also a fundamental part of this role.

In addition to the above you should be contractually and commercially aware and understand the risks and opportunities which sit within each contract. There is an onus on the individual and their teams to understand the specific service related contractual obligations and to adhere to them at all times.

About you...

As an effective leader, with proven experience of line managing a multi-disciplinary team, you will have experience of operating in a healthcare or custodial setting. A demonstrable track record at developing people to nurture talent and grow tomorrow’s leaders is essential. A strong focus on operational performance is required therefore it is not essential for applicants to have a clinical background.

It is essential that you have experience of contract management and negotiation, as well as budgetary control and delivery of EBITDA targets.

Formal qualifications are less essential than experience and leadership capabilities such as passion, commitment and personal drive, therefore the post holder does not necessarily need to have a degree or formal management qualification.

Based out of our Midlands Regional Office in Wolverhampton, there will be an expectation for frequent travel across all five sites that you're responsible for, as well as other sites as required by your Manager. Occasional travel to other regions and our London offices will also be required.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. The salary for this role is up to £60,000 plus a £4,000 car allowance and a performance related bonus. Other benefits such as private medical insurance and pension are also available.
