HMP Oakwood is the largest prison in Europe, holding 2106 Category C male offenders. HMP Oakwood’s large modern healthcare facilities enable us to deliver “Exceptional Care” to our patient group. We provide a range of both physical and psychosocial health care service, including long term conditions, primary care, wound care, sexual health, mental health services, substance misuse, social care and pharmacy.

A bit about the role…

As our Clinical Substance Misuse Services Manager, you’ll be an integral part of the healthcare team by bringing your top-notch clinical skills, passion for care and inspiring leadership to the role.

As a member of the wider management team, in your role as the SMS Clinical Lead you will be responsible for providing the day to day clinical and operational management of the ISMS team, contributing to the strategic direction and development of the service. There will be an expectation for you to lead / contribute to clinical and consumer audits. You'll be responsible to the Head of Healthcare, to ensure the management of the service meets its contractual obligations.

This includes ensuring all operational and clinical data requirements on the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are submitted within agreed deadlines and that KPI data is utilised to manage the performance of the team and individual staff, taking proactive action in the case of clinical or financial under-performance. As well as supporting and developing junior members of your nursing teams and driving forwards the quality of ISMS at HMP Oakwood.

What we need from you?

You will be either a Registered General Nurse (RGN adult) or a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), it is essential that you have substance misuse specialist experience and that you are a qualified and experienced a Substance Misuse Prescriber.

This is a leadership role and with your team leaders you will model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication and competence. The role will include providing challenge, support and mentorship at point of delivery, drawing the best from our staff and improving the quality of care received at HMP Oakwood.

Further Information

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week across Monday – Friday 08:30 – 16:30 (may be some flexibility in hours and will need to be discussed at interview). The salary for this role is up to £46,000 per annum - dependent on experience.
