Practice Plus Group are Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
HMP Isle of Wight is a category B prison which is based over 2 sites Albany and Parkhurst and has a population of 1100 prisoners.
Our two sites based Primary Healthcare Centres provide a comprehensive primary care service, GP appointments, chronic disease nurse led clinics, screening programmes and health promotion work. An emergency response service to prison wings is also provided.
There is also an Inpatient Healthcare unit (IHU) on the Albany site which provides 24 hour care to those with mental health, physical health, substance misuse and palliative care needs. The post-holder may be expected on occasions to rotate to the inpatient unit.
What do we need from you so you can do the job?
To be considered for this role you will be a RGN and hold a current NMC registration, with at least two years’ experience and have evidence of continued professional development post registration.
We are looking for someone passionate, motivated and dynamic to join the existing team in helping to develop the service.
You will be responsible for managerial and clinical aspects of the role, in the absence of the Primary Care Lead. As a Senior Staff Nurse you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide skilled and evidence based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Care UK and prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week. The salary for this role is up to £36,500 per annum - dependent on experience. You will be eligible for a bonus with this role. Following successful completion of probation period the salary may increase by up to £1000.
