HMP Ford is a category D resettlement prison, located in Ford, in West Sussex. With an operational capacity of 534, it looks after those with a minimum of 14 weeks left to serve, with 160 men going out to work daily. It’s located approximately 10 mins from Arundel, 15 minutes from Bognor Regis, 25 minutes from Chichester, and 30 minutes from Worthing.

It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Ford, we’re looking for a Mental Health Nurse to support us and the existing team.

We could allow you to develop into a specialist role of your interest and benefit to the service i.e. CBT, ANP, BBV, sexual health, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, RCGP, and long-term condition.

You will receive a salary of up to £33,000 FTE per annum - dependent on experience.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?
You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as being creative and forward-thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing is desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.
If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!
