About HMP Isle of Wight

HMP Isle of Wight is a Category B Men's training Prison and holds up to approximately 1100 prisoners across two sites with a central administration team.

The IHU provides care to prisoners with mental health problems who are awaiting outside hospital. Physical health problems, minor surgery, medical, rehabilitation/post-operative care and palliative care. The Unit also provides a safe environment for the stabilisation and detoxification of prisoners with substance misuse problems. IHU delivers care over a 24hr period and rotation will be expected from days to nights.

A fantastic opportunity for RMN’s to integrate their mental health skills and knowledge in an inpatient environment, as well as learning new skills to look after patients with physical needs. The work is interesting and varied and is an opportunity to make a difference to peoples’ lives, enabling them to improve and maintain their health and wellbeing. The post holders will be expected to work flexibly in line with service needs.

In return for your hard work you will..

Receive an annual salary of up to £35,500 - depending on experience. You'll also get a number of benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holidays plus CPD and re-validation support.

What do we need from you so you can do the job?

As a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse, you'll have a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!.

The full-time role will be working 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis across 7 days.
