About the role

As a Staff Nurse within prison health, in the primary care area you can expect to be involved in everything from clinical triage to the evaluation and development of patient care and standards.

You’ll carry out – and potentially develop – nurse-led clinics, reviewing patient histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when needed. In the in patients area you will deliver holistic care to patients on end of life pathways, with complex health needs, post-surgery or for suicide or self-harm support.

Across everything you do, you’ll maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease.

About you

As an RGN/RN 1 with valid NMC registration, you’ll bring a good knowledge of clinical governance and a real passion for taking your skills even further.

It goes without saying that you’ll have a solid understanding of health and safety, along with exemplary record keeping skills. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously, you’ll show plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations.

Beyond that, you should have a flexible approach and the ability to achieve changing priorities by managing your own time.
